About eRide Waiheke
About eRide Waiheke – Waiheke e-Bike Hire
At eRide Waiheke, we don’t just run a business — we lead by example. Our system is clean, digital, culturally conscious, and built to grow. We prove that even a micro-business can set the standard for regenerative tourism — not just on Waiheke Island, but across Aotearoa.
Family-Run and Locally Owned
We’re a family business based on Waiheke Island, and we’re passionate about sharing our home with visitors. Since 2007, our team has organised cycling events and provided Waiheke e-bike rentals for thousands of riders. Over the years, we’ve become the trusted choice for visitors looking for freedom, fun, and unforgettable island experiences.
Experience Waiheke Like a Local
Because we live here, we know Waiheke inside out. When you choose Waiheke e-bike hire, you’ll discover more than just the main attractions. We’ll point you towards world-class vineyards like Mudbrick, Cable Bay, and Stonyridge, as well as golden beaches such as Onetangi and Palm Beach. You can also explore boutique shops, cosy cafés, scenic bike tracks, and the island’s hidden lookouts.
Safety and Support on Every Ride
Your safety is our top priority. That’s why every Waiheke e-bike tour begins with a clear induction. We explain the road rules, share safe-riding tips, and make sure you feel confident before you set off. If you need help while riding, our team is only a phone call away — giving you peace of mind throughout your adventure.

Our e-bike shop is open 7 days a week from 9am to 6pm. Whether you’re here for a day trip or staying longer, eRide Waiheke makes it easy to enjoy Waiheke Island on two wheels. Book online today and experience the island with freedom, style, and sustainability.

The Beginning of eRide Waiheke
Founded in 2019, eRide Waiheke grew from a local bike shop into Waiheke Island’s leading e-bike hire service. Born from a love of the island, we saw how electric bikes could unlock Waiheke’s hilly terrain for everyone—effectively “flattening the ride” so visitors and locals can glide between the ferry, vineyards, beaches and village centres with ease.
What started as a small workshop is now a premium Waiheke Island e-bike rental operation focused on safety, sustainability and great routes. With quick fittings, a clear induction, and multilingual guidance via the Waiheke Guide app, we make exploring simple, low-impact and fun.
Our Story
Embracing Tiaki
Tiaki is a Māori word that means to care for people, place, and culture.
By following the Tiaki Promise, eRide Waiheke is making a commitment to New Zealand, and not only acting as a guardian, protecting and preserving the unique land and culture, but also asking others – especially visitors to the island – to do the same. The spirit of this can be captured in the simple phrase “Nau mai, haere mai ki Aotearoa” = or “Welcome to New Zealand”.
Our commitment to Tiaki has had a positive impact on their business, driving customer loyalty, fostering community support, and enhancing their overall brand reputation.

Committed To Quality
eRide Waiheke’s success is built on more than just electric bikes. Our ethos is deeply rooted in environmental stewardship and Tiaki. From promoting reusable water bottles to organizing beach clean-ups, we are committed to preserving the natural beauty of Waiheke Island. Achieving Gold certification is a reflection of these efforts, showcasing our commitment as leaders in sustainable tourism.
Riding High on Excellence
We have worked hard and concentrated on evolving our business to take it from a Bronze to the Gold Qualmark level. We are overjoyed at finally receiving this award – a testament to our dedication to high-quality service, environmental responsibility, and sustainable tourism practices.

Commitment to Sustainable Waiheke Island Tourism
Driven by their commitment to responsible tourism, Katya and Mark set out to create a business that not only showcased the natural wonders of Waiheke but also prioritised the well-being of the community and environment.
Over the years, they have grown from a small bike rental operation, to a thriving family-run business, welcoming thousands of excited visitors from around the world and earning a reputation as a leader in Sustainable Waiheke Island Tourism.
Guests are greeted with reminders of the business’s dedication to responsible tourism, including staff wearing Tiaki-branded uniforms and prominent Tiaki displays. This commitment to Tiaki has had a positive impact on their business, driving customer loyalty, fostering community support, and enhancing their overall brand reputation.
Mark and Katya have observed a shift in visitor behaviour, with an increasing number of tourists showing greater awareness and respect for the environment and local culture.
“By emphasizing the importance of responsible tourism and providing practical tips for minimizing impact, we’ve empowered visitors to make more informed choices and to feel they can reach out to our community if need be. Thus, in turn, we have received great reviews.”
